Where is Loveland?
Located in the northern Front Range, Loveland is often called the "Gateway to the Rocky Mountains." Over 5 million Valentines have been re-mailed through the Loveland Post Office since 1947, earning Loveland the nickname "Sweetheart City." Colorado residents enjoy 300+ days of sunshine, fresh air, and four distinct seasons. The annual total precipitation is 24 inches with an average annual snowfall total of almost 50 inches. Loveland has an estimated population of 56,000 in 24.39 total square miles. Loveland’s elevation is 4,982 ft.
Loveland is located 50 miles north of Denver in Larimer County, 8 miles south of Fort Collins, and 20 miles west of Greeley. Interstate 25 cuts through the extreme eastern edge of the city limits while U.S. Highway 34, connecting the interstate and the mountains, bisects the community. This east-west highway is a major traffic route serving as the main access to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park, located approximately 30 miles due west of Loveland. Interstate 70 is located 50 miles to the south in Denver and Interstate 80 is 45 miles to the north in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The Loveland and surrounding area population is comprised of a relatively young, affluent market. The median family income is approximately $60,800. Approximately 92.3% of northern Colorado adult residents have a high school education and 39.5% have a bachelors degree or higher. |

The economy of Loveland is anchored in manufacturing, publishing, government, trade, and the arts. Computers and peripherals as well as microelectronics comprise a large share of the area’s advanced technology firms. While numerous large firms, such as Hewlett Packard, Agilent, Hach Company, Wal-Mart Distribution Center, Water Pik Technologies, Inc., McKee Medical Center, Thompson School District, Porter Industries, Group Publishing, and Goldco enjoy their Loveland location, small businesses are still the backbone of the economy. Every aspect of the economy is reflected in the small business sector, including retailers, manufacturers, artists, professionals, restaurateurs, and wholesalers.
