Group Publishing, Inc. is now accepting applications for the company’s Community Service Awards until 5 p.m., August 31, 2008. Applications for cash awards are available to churches and community service organizations in 15 northern Colorado counties, including: Adams, Boulder, Clear Creek, Gilpin, Grand, Jackson, Larimer, Logan, Morgan, Phillips, Routt, Sedgwick, Washington, Weld, and Yuma. The eight-year-old award program is funded through Group Publishing’s charitable giving program, fostering the spirit of caring found in northern Colorado and recognizing non-profit organizations and church-related groups devoted to community betterment.
The Charitable Giving Committee will select organizations deserving special recognition for their achievements in 12 categories.

2008 Rules & Instructions
1. All nonprofit organizations (as certified by the IRS) that provide services in Northern Colorado are eligible. Organizations in these 15 northern Colorado counties may apply: Adams, Boulder, Clear Creek, Gilpin, Grand, Jackson, Larimer, Logan, Morgan, Phillips, Routt, Sedgwick, Washington, Weld, and Yuma.
2. Fill out the application completely and sign it; incomplete applications may be disqualified. Please do not staple or bind the application.
Confine project information to the application form and one additional page for Sections III and IV. Feel free to include supporting information with your application to help the judges learn more about your organization. You may include up to three supporting items (in addition to the IRS 501(c)(3) Determination Letter), but remember that items submitted with your application will not be returned.

You may deliver your application by mail, by express courier, or by hand to the address above or digitally to giving@group.com. All applications must be in our possession by 5:00 p.m. on August 31, 2008.
3. All applications and supporting information become the property of the Group Publishing Community Service Awards program and will not be returned.
4. The community service activities must have occurred between August 1, 2007 and
July 31, 2008. While programs may be continuous, only those conducted during the above period should be described in the entry. Each organization is allowed only one entry per year.
5. “Community service” is broadly defined as any activity carried out by a club, group, or organization that is of general benefit to the community and its citizens. Any federally recognized nonprofit organization or church, regardless of size, that sponsors and carries out community service activities and is located in one of the counties listed is eligible for the Group Publishing Community Service Awards program. Local chapters of national organizations must have governing bodies.
6. The 2008 Awards Committee, which selects the awards recipients, is composed of Group Publishing staff members. Group Publishing, at its sole discretion, may decide not to make an award in any given category without disclosing its reasons.
7. The announcement of Group Publishing Community Service Awards recipients will be made at the Annual Awards Presentation Luncheon on October 30, 2008 at the Marriott Hotel at 350 East Horsetooth Road in Fort Collins. Each participating organization will be invited to have two representatives attend the ceremony free of charge. You may purchase additional tickets for the luncheon based on availability. Award recipients must be present to receive awards and should prepare to be interviewed by attending news reporters. Announcements of award recipients will not be made prior to the Awards Luncheon.
8. Special Awards
Awards/Selection Committee
The Awards Committee is composed of staff members from Group Publishing. The Awards Committee collectively establishes its own criteria for evaluating applications. The Committee is not given criteria by Group Publishing for the selection of the award recipients. Details such as an incomplete application may provide sufficient cause for disqualification of an organization during the selection process. The decisions of the Awards Committee are final.
